Reported By Sarah MooreI think I have found my Adhesive! Like some the other Craft Critique reporters I started with the basic Glue stick... but ick! Who wants lumps and bumps under their paper! Then I was introduced to Stampin' Up! and I still grab my Snail adhesive for when I am on the go, or quick cards, stuff that sits behind a protective cover and won't be handled... cards I give away; that are likely to sit on a mantle for a week and then be tossed (horrors I know; but do you really think my Dad saves his birthday cards? Doubtful.) But then for my everyday use, and stuff that really needs to stick; I got hooked on Tombow Mono Multi... I loved the stuff.
But that bottle is SMALL and I was going through it like crazy. Plus it is so hard to find! I am not really into visiting a specialty store JUST for my adhesive; and they only carried Mono Multi at my Joanne's and Micheal's sporadically. Then... on the shelves of my local Target... and with a free rebate to boot... Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Adhesive. It is awesome! And you know it's gonna be great when it's made by 3M... they invented the Post-it note for goodness sake! And if you can't trust the name Scotch... well then you must be living in a hole.Firstly, it comes in a 2 oz. bottle. I am generally seeing it in stores for the same price as Mono Multi ($2.99 - $3.99 US)... but it's twice the size ladies! (Resisting a corny "size does matter" joke here.) I love that it dries fast... but it allows a bit of time for repositioning your paper/card stock. No bending, buckling or bubbling noted. I have not used it on photos... but since 3M/Scotch touts a different adhesive for photo use perhaps someone out there in cybercraft land can give us the scoop on THAT adhesive. I can only chat about paper and embellishments. And boy oh boy, it really DOES hold embellishments, and much better that I thought it would. Buttons, ribbon, even light metals! I've used it on several "action cards" cards with movable parts or connected pieces that previously I would have used Sticky Strip on, and it holds just as well.
A tip: don't put it too close to the edges of your card stock/paper... it spreads and a little bit goes a long way. AND I like to use the edge of my bone folder to lightly press the cardstock in place and smooth it out once I have my piece positioned.
It's super strong, super sticky, dries clear, affordable, name you can trust... what more do you need? How about a free rebate? Check your local Target; It looks like it's an exclusive target offer, and I JUST bought a bottle with the free rebate coupon inside! (The package was clearly marked with the rebate offer.)
Also fun... apparently it's the 75th anniversary of Scotch Tape! Visit "Scotty McTape" at the Scotch website and read all about the history of tape, download some cool vintage Scotch Tape Ads, and learn 75 uses for Scotch Tape... Pee Wee Herman come to mind? Anyone?
Have you tried any of the other Scotch Brand Scrapbooking or Craft Adhesives? Let us know! Hint, hint, hint... I feel a giveaway coming soon!

Hi Sarah...I do use this Scotch glue and it does work very well. I still use my mono adhesive but this Scotch stuff works great for hard to stick items and it doesn't bubble or harden the project. Thanks for sharing.
I just ordered and got my new 1/4" tape gun made by 3M (the 714 model) and it holds JUMBO rolls of 1/4" adhesive. They sell acid free, industrial and plain. While this gun is large, I learned how to whup up my projects in nothing flat with it in just one afternoon! The tape refills are 36 yds for under 2.25 if bought by the dozen, and the way I go through adhesives, I like this the BEST, next to my Xyron (for total adhesive applications.)
The best deal was online from framingsupplies.com after my friends that design on design teams and work at scrapbooking stores recomended it. I gotta say, I am more impressed with this than anything I have ever used. I am an adhesive addict and have tried 'em all. 3M rocks.
I have the Scotch 3M ATG 700 double sided tape gun and I would have to list this as my favorite tool. Previously I had a problem with cards staying together and this has definately solved that problem. I love this gun and would highly recommend it. It did take some getting used to because of it's size but once I did I could probably work it with my eyes closed. lol I love to read & learn about new adhesives so thanks for sharing.
I use the 3m double sided tape alot and have found it works better then the other brands. I will have to try the tacky glue. so off to target I go
I wish I would have read this post *before* my journey to Target yesterday. ;) One Scotch adhesive product I enjoy is the foam mounting tape (sold in a roll.) I use it in place of pop dots on occassion. It's great because you can cut it to whatever size you need, and it also gives you a different height than pop dots. Oh, and I almost forgot...plain old Scotch double sided tape (in the yellow dispenser) is my tape of choice. Before I found Mono Multi I used it for all my layers.
what kind of top is on that? is it like a sponge dauber type?
I just saw this glue at AC Moore's and passed it. I think I'll give it a try. I have an ATG gun but I'm embarrassed to say that my tape is all messed up and I'm too dorky to figure out how to fix it!!
I have an opened bottle of that glue in my stash - as soon as I run out of the mono-multi, I'll have to open it instead of buying more mono-multi. I hope I like it as much as you! I do have to say that I love Scotch - I use the double stick tape and I wouldn't give up my ATG gun for anything! But I need a liquid glue for lil' pieces - THANKS for the tip.
Have not tried this Scotch glue but it sounds like it works so I will give it a try. THanks for sharing.
I love this glue, I live in Mexico and you can barely find scrapbooking supplies and this is something we get at Walmart and it is amazing!!
Today I had a bit of an accident because I didn´t pay attention and it was cloged and I squeeze to hard and it pretty much exploded, but other than that I love it!!
I love this blog is so good, keep up the good work.
Saludos de Mexico!
Hey Sara, I use the Scotch double sided sticky tape on all my cards. I like it a lot better than any other product I have used. It goes a long way and it holds very well. I always used the momo adhesive (first I only used Creative Memories, then started using any kind that I could find cheap), but it goes way too fast, especially at workshops, ect. And the refill ones are such a pain! Soooo, I tried the Scotch DSST and have used it ever since. I have always bought Scotch brands in the past because they are the best and why should that be any different with card making and scrapbooking, right? Well, any who, I will definitely have to try the Scotch glue! tfs!
I agree! Scotch Tacky Adhesive is by far my favorite adhesive. Great stuff!
