My infatuation with American Crafts papers began several months ago when I first considered seriously how much I wanted to scrapbook. My love for these papers has grown from strength to strength.

First of all, the colours, patterns and designs of the American Crafts papers are awesome; crisp, clean and always in the right combination. I love how the unique designs can be applied and showcased for my scrapbooking projects. You can use them in the background or, if you like, you can use the pattern or images as a key element in your page design. So far, my favourite page to do this with has been: Mother May 1 from the 'Play' Collection and I’ve used this for my daughter’s page below, where I cut out the flower and the stem and used it as a central design element.

I love different looks - some days I’m in love with the ‘shabby chic’ look, other days I love the crisp and clean. American Crafts paper is just perfect for those clean and crisp days where the clean lines and striking colours inspire a simple look, filled more with journaling than embellishments. The paper speaks for itself, without the need to spice it up even more. The 'bubbles' in the paper even gives the ‘watery’ feel to echo the journaling about my daughter pondering over the puddle of water.

But that’s not all. The versatility of the American Crafts line also lends itself to being shabby and chic. I love how the patterns can be used to help give different ‘feels’ to the story I want to share on my page. In the example below, I’ve used circle punches on the polka-dot paper to give a certain ‘trendy’ feel to my pages about shopping in New York City.

I love to combine different patterns of similar colours, and use as a background to showcase one photo and the different pink patterns in this sample allows me to do just that.

One of the things I love most about the entire American Crafts line is how the paper is stiff and not flimsy. This makes it an excellent candidate for creating 3-dimensional objects, like this paper box I created, based on a video demonstration on the Creating Keepsakes website (link no longer available, sorry!).

The American Crafts line is also filled with products which co-ordinate well together and that, in itself, is a big plus in my mind. You've got ribbons, felt flowers, buttons and even alphabet stickers at your disposal, and all at affordable cost. And the website is filled with ideas to pick from and use.

Don't just take my word for it, if you’ve never pondered using American Crafts papers, you should give it a go - and post your creations in the comments section here so we can all go visit your site. If you’re already an American Crafts lover, please let us know, so we can check you out too! I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
