One super-hot embellishment that has rocked the digital world recently is virtual glitter. Yup--that's right! Glitter for your computer. No mess, no glue, no spills on your carpet or glitter stuck to your dear husband and kids. Ha! It's wonderful stuff and tons of fun to play with! Where can you find the best digital glitter? It's at the Studio Flergs shop at Scrapbook Graphics.
Designer Megan Farrow (a/k/a Megs) took the digi-scrapping world by storm when she first created her beautiful glitter styles. By making her digital glitter into a Photoshop style, she's created a tool that enables people to cover any shape with glitter at the click of the mouse. Let me show you what I mean! Here is simple heart shape I made:

Now watch as it's transformed from a flat, boring shape to an embellishment with just one click:

Now, I can add it as the finishing touch to my little layout! I used the What Dreams May Come glitter styles here, which coordinate perfectly with the What Dreams May Come kit:
The digital glitter itself is commonly made in a program called Art Rage (stay tuned for a review of Art Rage here on Craft Critique next month!). Megs uses Art Rage to create the glitter from scratch determining the color, the size of the sprinkles and the amount of shine it will have. Then she will transform them into a seamless Photoshop style that's ready to clip itself to anything you can think of! She also includes the original .png files of glitter so that users of other programs, like Paint Shop Pro, can use these styles, too. She also includes a file of sparkles so you can add even more shine to your elements.
Always ahead of the curve, Megs has recently created some lovely Rainbow Glitter styles as well. Here's what one of the styles looks like in action:

Let's break it down even more:
Pros:
- Megs' glitter is realistic and comes in several beautiful colors.
- Megs typically makes a glitter pack that coordinates with each one of her kits. You can even custom order your own set!
- Because it's a style, it's so easy to use--just one click in Photoshop!
Cons:
- When you resize an item, the glitter style does not automatically resize along with the item. You have to flatten the item first, then resize it (but this is the case with any Photoshop style).
Where you can get it:
- Only at Studio Flergs @ SBG.
So, the next time you're looking for something fun and unique to add to your digital pages, try making your own glitter embellishments with the help the beautiful glitter styles from Studio Flergs!
Happy scrapping!

Stunning layout!
I'm not big into digi yet really because I love texture - but the realism of this plug in may change my mind.
Thanks Nicole for this little review of Flergs' Glitter! I've always wanted to get it, but I wasn't sure how to use it!! Now I'm definitely going to get the matching glitter for that new kit of hers!
Great article Nicole!
I love Megs' Glitter!!
Wow I guess with digi-glitter there are no worries about glitter on your desk, glitter in your hair and glitter in your snacks! Digi-glitter may be even acceptable to Ellen DeGeneres and she will stop trying to get glitter banned through congress!
Thanks for the review on the digi-glitter. It looks like it would be fun to use. I love that it does not make a mess. :)
Your page is beautiful. The simplicity in yout design is wonderful. That's my kind of scrapbooking.

Thanks for the tip on how to get the glitter to resize with the elements Nicole! The only way I could figure out how to do it before was to save the shape as a png then reopen it. I'll have to try your way!! :)
Glitter does seem to be hot. I just downloaded free glitter from the following site in silver, aqua blue, subdued blue, orange and subdued orange for free the other day. http://creative-dreams.net/blog/?itemid=33 And she has a free tutorial on how to draw with glitter here:http://creative-dreams.net/blog/index.php?itemid=34 Enjoy!
Great article, Nicole! And I agree... Flergs' glitter is the best out there. Kudos to you both - author and designer!
Love, love, love this rainbow style...and anything Flergs does is just gorgeous!
