Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. You can get as crazy, scary, cute, or traditional as you want. I always check out my local craft stores for various kits and decorations that I can make myself. As soon as I saw the Haunted Tree Decoration kit from K & Company, I fell in love. The entire Halloween Whimsy line illustrated by Jen Yanok has a colorful, whimsical style. The line also has scrapbooking items, other decor items, and even buttons! Too many cute things, and I bought way to many of course.
The tabletop tree kit comes with everything you need to make it except for tape or glue and scissors. It includes the tree, 8 favor boxes and ribbon to make ties.
The tree comes in 2 separate pieces of foam core board. Everything is pre-cut, you just have to slide the 2 pieces together. If you wanted it to be permanent you could add a line of glue down the centers before placing them together, but I wanted to be able to take mine apart to store flat after Halloween is over.

The favor boxes are 8 pre-scored, pre-cut cardstock shapes. You just start by folding all of your score marks, and then assemble. All you have to do is add some glue or tape (I used Terrifically Tacky Tape and it worked great!) down the tab on the right hand side and form your box. Once you have done that just fold the score marks and your bottom and top down and your all set. Just add a cut of ribbon under your top and you are ready to hang your treat container on your tree.

I think it makes such a great way to decorate your table. And if you're having a party, fill those little boxes with some candy corn and you're all set.

Pros:
  • Everything is included but tape and scissors
  • Super easy to assemble
  • Can be done in under an hour

Cons:

  • If you were using them for a party, it might be nice to have more treat containers as 8 isn't very many
  • Not super sturdy, might not last more than 1 or 2 Halloweens

The Haunted Tree Decoration Kit can be purchased at your local Michaels store or online at Scrapbooking Warehouse, Scrap Your Trip, and 1-2-3 Stitch and the suggested retail is $12.99.

Over all I think this was just what I needed to add to my table. What do you think?! Let us know!
