We often get emails from readers with a question that our editor Sarah throws out to the collective staff. Between all of us, undoubtedly one of us knows the answer, or at least has some insight into the problem. But while we respond to the emailer privately, we never impart the wisdom to the rest of our readers. So now we're opening up our vast stores of knowledge to you all!Announcing Craft Critique's newest feature:
ASK CRAFT CRITIQUE!
Got a question, issue, problem, or are just plain confused by the multitude of crafty goodness out there? We've got you covered!
Email us at info@craftcritique.com, or comment on this post,
and we'll compile a list of Q & A's so we can all learn from each other. We plan on this being a recurring column, with no set schedule, because that's how we roll!

Well, I'm just excited to have somewhere to express my ongoing frustration with Provocraft's Customer Service and the Cricut Design Studio. My DH saw the program on sale and bought it for me. While I tried to authorize it, my serial code only had 5 parts for the needed 6. I e-mailed provocraft last Tuesday after not being able to get ahold of anyone during the 5-6 hour thats the only chance I have to call them as I work the rest of the time they have customer service. I still haven't heard from them and I'm frustrated to have a program that isn't working fully and I can't return it to the store because its been open. I don't feel like I have a lot of options and was wondering what others of you would do in my situation.
How do you get rid of the horrid chemical smell on Tim Holtz' grungeboard? I spread them out on my craft table for 3 months & the smell is still nasty. Also, they have begun to curl, which they're not supposed to do. Thank you!

Could you show a tutorial for using the QuicKutz QuickStik? I've found basic directions for using it and even some reviews, but I must be missing something ~ LOL. I think a picture would speak a 1,000 words in this case!! Thanks for all you guys do!! Judy
I love my new Fiskars fingertip craft knife, however cannot find a replacement blade for it. My Michael's store carries the knife, but no blade. Please help! (I am in Canada, so an online resource would be great too!)
Can I ask two? I'm going to.
1. I'm having adhesive issues. I'm trying to make pendants with a picture in a bezel with a magnifying glass cab on top, but I can't find the right glue. I'm using transparencies so the metal shines through. With E6000 and the Amazing Goop products, I get big bubbles that show up as little black lines crossing through. With Hypo Cement, the ink yellows after a couple days' exposure to light. With the Hypo Cement for paper, it dries too quickly for me to spread it evenly across. With Diamond Glaze and similar products, the ink runs, even though I seal the picture with spray acrylic before I glue. I've used Envirotex resin, and it's hit or miss with bubbles, mostly miss. So help?
2. I've been looking at Catholic saint bracelets and wondering how one would go about making one. Do they make wooden beads with a little bezel you can fill, or do you put a picture on a wooden tile and coat it in resin? Also, where might I find wooden beads drilled that way? I'm having a heck of a time.
I've been stamping for 13 years and follow a good number of stampers blogs.
I see where many stampers are using Nestabilities for their layers. I must admit I'm clueless about this item. I haven't taken the time to research it myself so I hope you can fill me in on the ease of use or why this over something else.
Thanks so much for your expertise!
Debbie
I would like to know which "Nessties" are used most often and for the first time buyer, which set is best to get. Which would you get the most use from. I like the look of the ovals.
I want to know what kind of paper to use to print out the digital pattern paper. There are alot of free downloads out there but I'm not sure what to print them on.
I would love to know where each of your members shops the most to find the best deals! I am referring to mostly internet shopping since most of us will not live near you.
I am also interested in the Copic markers &/or pens, but they seem really spendy. Is there a big difference between the markers and pens, and where can you find them for a decent price?
Thanks for offering to answer our questions!!
I'd love to know which size of the xyron people are happiest with--create a sticker sizes (150) or the large economy size (900)
When heat embossing, how do you prevent the paper from becoming warped? I even have this problem when I use heavy cardstock...I make sure not to overheat the image, I keep the heat tool as far away from the paper as I can and move it back and forth, etc. Just curious if others have this same problem?
Thanks!
Have purchased the spellbinders frameabilities set:
http://spellbinderspaperarts.com/frameabilities/decorative-frames.html
have had issues with embossing - wondering if anyone has had same issues - also picture on packaging is misleading - one would think there is large frame but that die does not have cutting edge - did check on website - this fact is mentioned but still didn't check website out before I bought - only after.

Is there anyway to totally coat a paper or card to receive UTEE so that it spreads and adheres evenly? I have tried several pads and to no avail...
Also...I have always stored my stamppads upside down based on information gleaned from Lisa Volrath...This seems to be reinforced by the new Stampin Up pads...any info to back this up?
I'd like to see some info on Versamark's Dazzle inkpads. I'm familiar with the original Versamark, but want to know if the Dazzles do the same while adding sparkle, or are limited to just a subtle sparkle. Thanks!
I'm also very intriqued by the quilter's new tool "accuquilt." It acts just like a Sizzix big shot, but do you have to use that machine or can other die cut machines substitute fairly? Thanks again!
Hmmm...Provocraft's Cricut or Cricut Expression is so huge out there. As more and more people jump on the bandwagon, some of us are dipping our hands into Provocraft's Design Studio (the add on to their systems), I would love for Craft Critique to cover the Design Studio. I'm sure you'll interest TONS of readers.
I'm new to the design studio and found that there's no manual to the full capabilities of DS or any comprehensive 'How-To' medias to the DS.
There is such a huge learning curve to it. I see many magazines/books that only focus on IPOD/IPHONE 'How Tos'. I wonder why Provocraft hasn't come up with a book or something. So anyways, I think many readers would appreciate any tip/how tos/directions to better resources involving Provocraft's Design Studio.
Thanks for the chance for input.

I would like to see a FAQ or tutorial on digital scrapbooking. I am CLUELESS! Once you buy an image can you use it endlessly? What kind of program do I need? What do I do with it when I'm done creating the page? Print it myself? Send it to a lab? Like I said, I'm CLUELESS! But I want to learn.
I'd love to see a review of scrapbooking totes. I'm talking about the large wheeled ones. When going to a crop, I usually have to make 4 trips from the car. I'm thinking of taking the plunge to purchase a tote, but have no idea which to buy.
I recently saw a magazine which was new to me called Just Cards! by Scott Publications. I subscribed to it and ordered the Premier Issue also. They arrived today and this is what I wrote to them:
I received my first issue of your magazine today plus the premier issue which I ordered. I have only been this disappointed in a magazine once before. The actual magazine is gorgeous, but the cards inside are mostly at beginner level! Had I seen the magazine in person prior to subscribing, I would never have subscribed! In each of the two issues, which contain over 300 cards, only about a dozen were cards I would want to "CASE" or copy for my own use.
Check out this magazine for yourself, if you want to overspend, but this should be only for the very beginning crafter.

This is totally random but it has been bugging me and I can't find any info anywhere. I even emailed Martha Stewart w/no answer yet. Why are some of her punch handles green and some white? Are they different or just changing the color. I like things to match and I have all white punches but if I am going to collect something I don't want to mix colors if they are the same punch just different colored handles. Does anyone know why she did this? Do the green ones do something different than the white? ie emboss as well. I don't know. It's been bugging me to find out. I thought maybe the green ones are manufactured for WalMart and the White ones are Manufactured for Micheals? Maybe it's just to make them exclusive to that store. Thoughts? Info? Thanks
I am not a sewer AT ALL. I know nothing about sewing machines, but I love that look.
What kind of sewing machine would be good for me, and how much should I spend?
