Blog Splash: Creating Keepsakes Easier-than-Ever Scrapbooking 2

Reported by Melissa Norris
I have a confession to make. And you can’t tell Sarah! I am a procrastinator. Always have been and probably always will be. I did this project at the last minute. Good thing it was for Easier-than-Ever Scrapbooking 2 by Creating Keepsakes. Otherwise, I might have gotten caught.
This magazine is the perfect addition to any scrapbooker’s library. With the instructions and ingredients for each recipe clearly laid out, all layouts can be completed in less than an hour. And most recipes have tips at the bottom to make it even easier, like forgoing stitching on buttons and just using glue.
I chose a layout in the Pantry + 1 section, with my +1 being buttons. The steps were super simple and easy to follow along. I ended up finishing my project in the suggested 30 minutes, aside from choosing supplies. We all know how long that takes.
The layout was designed Monochromatic in blue in the magazine, but due to my lacking of pink buttons, I chose to add the complimentary green buttons and gems. But that is the beauty of this issue, everything is so easy and simple, it is simple to change to make perfect for you and your photos.
I can see this magazine really helping the scrapbookers who enjoy going to crops. Imagine going through the magazine and your photos ahead of time, choosing the layouts you like, and packing the pantry items you need. Then you can bring all of your completed layouts home and add those +1 and +2 items that you may not want to drag along to a crop. By combining the ideas in the magazine with your pantry supplies, you can pack your bag more efficiently, use your time wisely  (aside from all that chatting!), and add all those special touches when you get home. I imagine all the other croppers will be begging to borrow your magazine.
  • Easy to use: With your supply lists and instructions written out, you can scraplift with ease.
  • Great samples: Some of the samples look complex but are super simple once you know how it was created.
  • Fast: We are all stretched for time, so if you can create a layout with that one hour that you have during nap time, you’re all set!
  • Use those scraps: On several of the layouts there are bonus projects like cards to use up the leftover scraps from the layout, 2 birds with one stone!
  • Pantry vs. Plus 1,2: For some people, the items in the pantry may be a +1 or +2 for you, and the other way around. Buttons are a staple for me and something I always have. But that is easily worked around.
  • Price: $14.99 is a bit pricey for a magazine, but using the 10% off offer it becomes a better deal.
  • Time: For some of the layouts, the time seems a bit off, and that it might take a bit longer. But I still feel they would be under an hour.
The special issue can be purchased for $14.99 at your local scrapbooking, craft, or book stores or online through CK where you can get 10% off between now and May 31 using the code GOXG-5Y78-7A17.

The Boy Scouts were so right (or was it Girl Guides?)…BE PREPARED! When you have all your supplies stocked up and the right colors in your bag you can breeze along with your scrapping!

lOOKS like a GREAT book! I’d say best time saving is pre-plan! When you have an idea ahead of time, you’ll save time knowing what you want to do and what supplies to use!

Easier than ever looks wonderful. I think I need this magazine.
My time saving tip, is to use short chunks of time to sort pictures and crop so that when you are ready to actually make a page it is much faster.

Wow, thanks for the chance to win and thanks for stopping by my bloggy with your kind words 🙂

One of the many things I do to save time is when I get new stamps, I stamp them out on different color cardstock, depending on the stamp and cut them out, then I sort them in baggies so that when I am scrapping if I have a stamp/color in mind-which usually I do, I just grab my baggie and scrap away without having to worry about finding my inks and cutting.

Glad I can share with you all 🙂

I am all about pre-planning now. I spend way too much time trying to figure out what I want to do, and love when I can just get it done quickly and easily. I use CTMH’s books with easy lo sketches with all the guess work taken out. You can embellish and turn the lo’s any way you want, for such versatility. This magazine isn’t what I thought it was at first glance. Now I need to get it! Anything that saves me time is appreciated.
Thanks for the chance to win.

That’s great! Thank you very much for your chance to win… I love the idea of kits to save time. That way everything is all picked out and matching for you and all you need to do is put it together!

  12. Jodi May 15, 2009 at 3:00 pm #

Time-saving? Kits and scraplifting!! Love having some inspiration to jump off from. 🙂

  13. Leslie May 15, 2009 at 3:02 pm #

My time-saving tip? Stick with 4×6 photos from an online service like snapfish. It saves so much time and money on printing! I use CK’s 4 by 6 Scrapbooking idea book and this lady’s blog:

Plus, lots of the sketches out there can be easily adapted to work with 4 by 6 photos!

Keeping like colored papers together is my time-saving tip. I have all the shades of one color at my fingertips and can choose quickly. Thanks for the chance to win!

  17. Lori May 16, 2009 at 11:15 am #

Beyond using my Klik-n-Kut as a time saver, I also make sure to keep my embellishments separated by color so I can pull out all the possibilities in that color scheme when I’m working on a project.

I would love to win a copy – I need all the help I can get to complete some layouts LOL!

    xoxo, Christine

Great review. I hate to read and peruse the mag at the checkout. I like to use sketches and recreate from a sample. That saves me a lot of time!

  21. princesskitten May 16, 2009 at 1:08 pm #

In the UK we don’t have anything like all the scrap stuff you have. I would love a make over!

  22. mommycall May 16, 2009 at 1:09 pm #

It would be great to win this! It looks fabulous!

  23. Heidi May 16, 2009 at 1:19 pm #

Sketches! Both card and layout sketches are great timesavers. They eliminate of the of steps in the process, which is usally the hardest for me – deciding how I want the layout to look. There are so many great websites, blogs, and publications out there that publish sketches.

  24. chinamomxtwo May 16, 2009 at 1:56 pm #

my time saving tip is to sort all those scarps by color in labled file folders. This way, when I see a contrasting color, I can go right to it. 🙂
thx for the chance to win! would l-o-v-e to have this!!

  25. Ayelet May 16, 2009 at 2:02 pm #

  27. rush8888 May 16, 2009 at 2:11 pm #

it’s always good to have a place to start when scrapbooking and card making. this allows a good base and promotes stepping away from the recipe with more confidence. i want one!

  28. Barb Y May 16, 2009 at 3:02 pm #

all I can say is WOW!! thanks for all the inspiration…my favorite time saving scrapbooking tip is to do your work in advance. I do so much better if I’m organized. I pull pictures, paper, embellishments, journaling boxes, stamps, etc. whatever I’m going to need for the layout. Since I usually work in pieces of time, not days, this gets me all set to go when the moment presents itself. Keep up the great work!!

  29. LInda E May 16, 2009 at 3:23 pm #

My time-saving tip is that I ALWAYS use repositionable adhesive that way when I move things around — which I always do — I don’t ruin anything.

  30. Nancy McMahon May 16, 2009 at 4:16 pm #

    Time saving ideas are always welcome! Sorry I don’t really have any, other than to scraplift! From Nancy M in NJ {}

  31. Kimberly S. May 16, 2009 at 4:50 pm #

My time saving tip is to layout all the products I plan to use on a particular page before I start scrapping it. Or scrap-lifting with similar products from my stash.

Over the years I realized that I always gravitate towards similar color schemes and products, so that’s what I buy at the store now.

I would love to win a copy of this book to save myself even more time!!!

  32. Rebecca Ednie May 16, 2009 at 5:31 pm #

Tip 1. Colour images while watching TV.
Tip 2. Bookmark everything you see online into neatly organized folders. That way when you want to find an idea to CASE, a technique you want to use or a template, it is easy to find!! Plus you don’t have to have a good memory.
Tip 3. If you always thread buttons withthe same fibers, do that while you watch TV.
Tip 4. Keep a notebook beside your bed to record ideas you have while falling asleep or when you first wake up.

  33. Angie Marion May 16, 2009 at 8:29 pm #

I would so love to win this! thanks!

  34. Jenn May 16, 2009 at 8:55 pm #

Thanks for the chance to win a fab magazine 🙂

  35. paper bag create May 16, 2009 at 9:38 pm #

My time saving tip….I’m really loving the coordinated pattern paper packs where all I need to do is find the coordinating cardstock. I find it easier to to sort my buttons in colours..pinks, red and whites in one orange and yellows in one…etc.
I would love to win a magazine as I’m a newbie scrapper! Thanks for the chance.

  36. lindagerig May 16, 2009 at 10:27 pm #

  39. zaza May 17, 2009 at 2:05 am #

thanks for this chance, this Easier than Ever looks fabulous…

  40. Bevie Pearl May 17, 2009 at 7:32 am #

This Easier than ever 2 magazine looks like a winner for design ideas.
My time saving tip is to put everything I need to use for a page in the page protector. Then I am ready to scrap it, it is all there for me.
Another time saving tip is to sort my photos as soon as I get them developed and put them in a album. I remove the ones I want to scrap and put them in a separate photo system organizer. (I use CM photo boxes that are labeled for that part.)

  41. Gina Wrona May 18, 2009 at 10:59 am #

Awesome, I’d love to win a copy!
