We had the pleasure of listening to a special presentation at the CHA Supershow today- the Queen Mother of Crafts, Carol Duvall. She graced the audience with a 45-minute "Conversation with Carol" in which she shared the stories of her broadcasting career (did you know she started off doing a children's show? Really!).Carol was signing copies of her book Paper Crafting with Carol Duvall
During Carol's tenure, she made television audiences feel competent, creative, and cared for. She was the friend you wanted to have over for coffee to show you the latest stitch, paper craft, or gift idea. And along the way, she introduced us to such craft luminaries such as Donna Kato, Lisa Pavelka, Mary O'Neil, Dee Gruenig, and Sarah Hodgeson.
Many of us (including Ms. Duvall herself) were surprised and saddened when HGTV decided to cancel the show. Similarly, many of us have asked, "How can we get Carol back?" That question seemed a moot point until today- after all, crafty television shows are all but extinct. However, her longtime producer Kelly Ehrlich is trying to pull together a new venture, with Carol as the figurehead- the iCraftNetwork.
This proposed network would show archived classic Carol Duvall shows, as well as fresh content generated by new craft up-and-comers. While the site hasn't been developed yet, Kelly shares that the first step is raising capital. And for that, she needs interest.
That's where the craft community comes in. Carol and Kelly are asking each and every fan to take a moment to drop a line via e-mail to show your emotional support. Share a favorite episode, guest or project, or just let Carol and Kelly know that you miss YOUR "Conversation with Carol." Send emails to: icraftwithcarol@yahoo.com!

I LOVE Carol Duvall. She was the one show I watched at 6:00am right before going to work each morning. I found one of her books one day and had to have it and love it. I searched for her and hate that her show had the nerve to be canceled! How dare they! I will watch Carol no matter what time she airs! It's strange how little television shows are aired regarding crafting! Thanks for sharing this treasure (seeing her at the show)! ;D
I got teary eyed reading this post about Carol. Though she does not know me, I feel she is an old friend. I can still remember (and still have) a soft sculpture doll that she taught me to make back when she was on the Home Show (ABC)in the late 80's or early 90's. I followed her to HGTV and would be an avid fan if and whenever Carol would appear in the media. I vote a huge YES! on Carol having a new show or webcast. LOVE HER and have learned so much from her.
Oh i vote a big fat crafty YES for carol to have her own show again..what have we done without this woman i have no clue..she is inspiration and friendly but mostly she feels like FAMILY.. i so encourage others to vote and support Ms.DuVall's new upcoming show...thanks..

Oh yes! Can't even count the number of crafts I tried for the first time thanks to Carol.
Bring it on!

I have so missed the "Queen of crafty". What were they thinking to cancel the best loved craft show ever. Many a crafter has mourned the loss. Carol's show had it all, crafts you loved, crafts you just "had" to try and even crafts you never heard of, but never forgot. Bring her back, some way, some how and they will come.
Hey! I stumbled onto your site and saw this post and COMPLETELY agree! HGTV started going down the tubes when they got rid of Carol! :( Great post!
You are all right Carol got me to watching the HGTV network and when she left I tried to stay tuned but who cares about buying a house that nobody can afford. Lets get back to crafting things and making the house we live in look better than a new one. Hope to see her back on HGTV soon I'll certainly watch
I miss Carol so much, She was a part of every morning in my home. I had a day care service and all the little ones loved her too. Even if they couldn't do what she showed...they were all inspired to be crafty each day after her show. Would love, love, love to have her back again! Don't want to be anonymous...This is Teresa!!!
I was at the CHA show and got to see Carol Duvall and was one of the lucky ones who won her book. I got to take a photo with her after and she signed my book I won. I too totally believe they should bring Carol back.
She IS a rock star! Oh my goodness, I miss her show so much!! Come back!!
Count me in as one of Carol's devoted fans!
I sent off my email; hopefully she'll be back on TV very soon.
I loved the Show I wish it was back on and if does return I would dvr and watch episode after episode LOL

I agree. I was so excited to be able to retire and watch my "friend" Carol Duvall. As soon as I retired though, they took her off the air. I was devastated. I spent a fortune buying crafts so that I could do them along with her. Bring her and her friends back. HGTV has not been the same since. DIY missed out on a good thing. They show repeat after repeat on mostly shows that we really don't care about. Bring on the crafts again starting with the "queen" of crafting. Thanks.
HGTV/DIY was nuts to cancel her. They became even more nuts when they stopped the re-runs even at 4am. I DVR'd at 4am..saw the commercials..now those channels get zero percent of my time.
I loved being introduced to new crafts by someone who doesn't speak baby talk (the "Craft Lab" chick). Her guests where witty and talented. If Carol isn't ready to retire then I VOTE YES..BRING HER BACK. TV, YouTube, DVDs I can buy...anyway!
We want our Carol Duvall back. She was our crafting guru. I was lost when then canceled her and I no longer watch HGTV because of it.
I miss Carol Duvall. I used to watch her every morning at 9. I lived when she had Pricilla Hauser on painting. Carol's show sparked my inteset in decorative painting. I loved the holiday specials. I wish HGTC didn't take her off the air. There are no shows for all of us crafters. We want Carol back!!!
I miss Carol. I enjoyed her and her guests.
I MISS CAROL DUVALL,MY MOM AND I BOTH
CANCELED BIY & HGTV.WE WERE A LOYAL AND HATE THAT THEY TOOK HER OFF,I'VE WRITTEN SEVERAL TIMES AND ASKED IF THEIR CHANNEL'S HAVE LOST ALOT OF FANS,PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO ALL THE FIX UP YOUR HOUSE.WE DO ENJOY LEARNING NEW CRAFTING,AND UNLIKE MS,SHE DOESN'T TAKE THE CRAFT AWAY FORM THE GUEST,SHE WATCHES AND DOES SOME INPUTS,LIKE A HOST OF CRAFTING SHOULD DO.PLEASE,PLEASE BRING CAROL DUVALL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We want Carol BACK!!!! I love to make Christmas ornaments and I got so many ideals from Carol Duvall. When my kids were in grade school they would tape Carol for me. We loved her show and especially the Christmas specials. I use to love HGTV but when she left, and then a couple other shows left (room by room and Decorating Cents) I left too. We DO NOT need all the decorating and real estatre shows!
Please listen to the people and bring her back.
I've watched Carol for YEARS, even before I had cable TV - my Mom would tape Carol's show so I could watch it! When they stopped showing her reruns I comments to the networks and complained but they didn't even have the good graces to respond....the lie, thievin' weasels! A new network just for crafting would cater to us crafters and show HGTV and DIY who's BOSS!!! Love you, CAROL! I want you BACK!
Yes, we want Carol back! Carol always had such a super show! Please, please, please.....
~Beth
I Miss Carol Duvall so much, and so do my friends. We all learned so much from her and her guests. I didn't realize that her show was cancelled. I thought she retired due to health reasons. I know that after Carol's show was cancelled, the "craft" shows that followed on HGTV and DIY were HORRIBLE. Craft lab was (is) idiotic and the things they make are so junky. The hosts act like morons and their grammar is atrocious. We NEED Carol Duvall to come back to TV with classy projects, real artists as guests and her great personality. Aneschke
Count me among the legion of fans who go back to The Home Show days. I love Carol and her down to earth manner, her humor, and her warmth. I hope she comes back to TV, but if it ends up being a website...well, that's what will push me out of dial up onto DSL! Next stop is an email. Thanks for giving us an outlet to support Carol.

I've already signed up as a devotee of Carol. I'd love to see her back on the air, whether its the television or the web. She was so sweet, funny, gracious, it was like crafting with your Mom or a favorite Aunt. I miss seeing her - bring her back!
Elaine Allen
I only started crafting after watching an episode of Carol Duvall, she made me think I could do it. I looked forward to every years Christmas shows. I was very sadden when the show was pulled. I stopped watching HGTV almost completely, theres nothing there worth watching.
Miss You,
Vicki R
Please give Carol Duvall her own show again! I watched her show every morning. Now all I have worth watching is Hallmark channel.
I subscribe to DirecTV and have considered dropping it just because they dropped The Carol Duvall show.
oh I hope they can pull it off I miss carol duvall
I'm a long time fan of The Carol Duvall Show and miss it terribly! It was ALWAYS a part of my day. If I was unable to watch when it aired, my recorder was set so I could enjoy it at a later time. The crafting community suffered a great loss when the show was cancelled, as so many of us found it enjoyable to learn new crafting ideas. Additionally, the advertisers introduced us to new and exciting products that we wouldn't have discovered otherwise.
Please consider a way to bring the show back to the crafting community, as there are an over-abundance of home improvement shows taking up the airwaves. Carol is a familiar friend that will be welcomed back with open arms!
I certainly would love to see Carol back on TV. There are really no shows devoted to crafters, whether they are paper crafters, fibers, jewelry, quilts, etc.
Women who craft are am important portion of the American dollars spent. Those dollars should count.
Nancy Dees
I miss Carol Duvall. I have watched her since the days she would be on in Cleveland with Fred. I also have been on one of her cruises and have all her craft letters. I keep looking for a new show.
In an early bio I was asked where I recieved my art training. I replied at CDU of course. That would be Carol Duvall University. Like many of you she was the spark to my creative flame.
Love ya Carol!
I would love to see Carol's show return. We really miss her!
We need to have Carol back on TV. I hope that there is some chance these comments will help get at least one craft show on TV. Not all the Home Shows. That is all there is on HGTV. ENOUGH ALREADY.
Without her show or a craft show with a similar format I don't know what new craft products are on the market or what you do with them. Her show was responsible for most of the crafting equipment & supplies I have purchased over the years. Her & her guest would demonistrate all of the possibilites. You would think the manufactures like Provo Craft, Cricut, Sculpey, Xyron, Olfa, Sizzix, Micheal's, JoAnn's, etc. would want to sponser a craft show on TV. How do they expect crafters to learn about their products? One more comment about Going Green, Crafters have been Rescyling for Centures.
BRING CAROL BACK
Hi, I am hoping that this is not to late. I am just getting around to looking at all my e-mails now and found this little gem waiting to be read. I would adore to have Carol back on any venue she has access to. During my years of growing up she has always been there to share the best ideas and to showcase some really great talented artists.
For years I taped her programs and was able to actually take the step in doing some of them myself...and they came out well. After years and years of watching and creating with Carol I was able to get the nerve up to e-mail her when she asked for viewers to send in their ideas on Christmas projects. I sent pictures of cards I'd done using paper napkins. I was shocked when one of her producers called and asked me to send some in. I did and was selected to be on one of her Christmas shows.
For me it was one of my fondest memories, not because I was on live TV, but because I was able to take a very dear friend of mine, who also loved Carol. She was battling a rare form of cancer and was having a bit a difficult time but knowing that she was going to be watching the show as a live audience member did wonders for her. She did pass away several years later but always talked about how thrilling it was to be a part of the show.
I'm hoping that the powers that be will grant Carol the opportunity to allow new crafter's the pleasure of getting to know her and her unique talents.

I'm all for having Carol Duvall back. I work all day and I was taping her shows, but they took her off. I don't tape the program's from the daytime. She is the reason there is alot of people out there that LOVE to craft, I'm one of them. She the ROCK STAR of crafting. Rosie of Ohio
I was so miffed when I realized they had taken her off the air. What a huge mistake. She bought life and enjoyment to so many of us who are not to crafty. She had a way of making you want to try things even when they turned out to be my version of her lovely creations. I want her back. She was relaxing and yet taught us all something.
Carol Duvall is one of the reasons I love to craft so much I have watched her crafting shows for years, following her from one show to the next. It was like losing an old friend when they took her off the air. I vote YES< YES< YEs, please bring her back!
PLEASE BRING CAROL BACK!!

I am so angry at HGTV and DIY Networks. It is all about the mancaves and remodeling your homes...I am sick of it....Do we really need to 24 hr channels for this? Bring back the craft shows.. Bring back CAROL D.
Please bring Carol back! I so miss her- I went through withdrawls when she went off the air! I had to go and get a job to fill the time I used to use to watch her and then craft!
I run into so many people who also want her back as we talk about her past shows and ideas we got from her.
Please help us to get her back.....i/we so miss her show, her wonderful way of presenting, her great ideas, etc!!!!
I miss Carol Duvall, Alex Anderson, Shelly & ? the first decorating show on hgtv. I am soooo tired of homes that are too expensive, too big, way out of line for the average homeowner. Landscapes suited to hotels, not family backyards. ce
I can't imagine WHY "they" EVER let her leave.
I watch HGTV very litttle since the crafting shows are gone. My husband and I haved owned out home forever and have always done the renovations we could and paind for the others. What's to learn or enjoy there?
Carl's new crafts (and even the reruns)though, that's something to sit down for !
Bring her back please!
I miss Carol DuVaul on HGTV and the other crafter shows. It seems like the Real Estate Market took of HGTV. All they want you to do is spend money on buying, selling, renovating homes......Not interested. I'm not 25 anymore, and could give a darm about that subject. I want my entertaining crafting shows back. No one subject should take over a whole network.....Boo to you HGTV
I have been trying to find a project from one of her holiday shows. I keep getting sent to DIY and HGTV web sites, but there is nothing there! I would LOVE to see Carol (and other craft shows) back on the air. I know I don't have $250,000 to buy the "cheap" houses they promote on most of their shows nowadays. We need things the average person can actually afford to buy/make/do!
Is there any news on iCraftNetwork? I am hoping it gets funded! I loved The Carol Duvall show. It was part of the inspiration for starting my business, Poly Clay Play. I always enjoyed watching all the crafts but especially the clay projects along with the wonderful artists who, with Carol, were so inviting!
Thank you Carol and thank you Kelly Ehrlich for trying to get her back in front of the public as well as a craft network of new artists and projects!
Sincerely,
Trish Hodgens

The craft shows that HGTV came up with after Carol Duval are pathetic. I don't want to see some tattoed girl who has guests that frankly scare me.
Carol Duval introduced us to new products and gave us the confidence to use them. I am surprised and dismayed that the show was cancelled.
The Carol Duval show is the reason that I bought a VCR (way back when), so that I could view any shows that I had missed.
I never met Carol Duval in person, but I shared my home with her for years!
I miss seeing the Carol Duvall show. How can we get her back on TV?
They always cancel the good shows-family oriented ones..I love Carol..bring her back and hopefully I have the channel she is on..God Bless? Carla Stewart, MO
I found this site looking for information about Carol Duvall. I tivo'd her program daily to make sure I never missed an episode. I loved her friendly style and the variety of crafts available on them. If I wasn't interested in a particular segment I knew I just needed to hold on till the next. Any network that broadcast Carol's programs--new or old--would have my viewing loyalty. I no longer watch either HGTV or DIY since they dropped both Carol Duvall and DIY Scrapbooking.
I had coffee in hand waiting for Carol to come on early in the morning. I loved learning about new crafting ideas, I looked forward to see what viewers would send in to her show. Carol made you feel like you were sitting next to her learning something worthwhile that could be shared with friends, family or a classroom of kids. How versatile is that?
You can have all your bathroom, landscapes and remodel shows you want HGTV/DIY...there are too many in the first place and in the second place who cares who is househunting? BRING THE QUEEN of CRAFTING BACK-and cancel the mindless junk you replaced Carol with please.
Judy/ Newhalem, Wa.
I live in the islands and how I really do miss Carol Duvall, she has brought out some creative skills that I did not even know I have. Please bring Carol please for the love of craft and the love of people. I could not believe that a show like this could be cancelled, Carol's show was my constant companion in the sickness and passing of my significant other, she helped me take my mind off things. Please bring her back.
