Vendor Spotlight and GIVEAWAY: Hot Glue Gun Helpers by Plaid (2 of 2)

Reported by Erika Martin

If someone were to ask me what the one con is to using a glue gun, it would be that I am always burning my fingers. Always! I’ve had countless blisters and callouses on my fingers, knuckles and other parts of my hands. My daughter has her own craft area in my studio and likes to use hot glue guns with her projects and every now and then, she gets hot glue on her fingers, as well.
Not only do I burn my fingers, but since one way or another, my glue guns end up on their side, dripping on my work surface, so I’m always trying to scrape hot glue off my desk.
Enter the Hot Glue Gun Helpers by Plaid. Just gotta get something off my chest right here and now before I delve into all the specifics. The Hot Glue Gun Helpers? A-MAZ-ING! No more burned fingers! Now, on to my review.
The Hot Glue Gun Helpers pack comes with:
  • A 14.6” x 11.5” mat
  • 3 Finger caps in two sizes
  • Tweezers
  • Paddle
  • Press Wand
First up that I wanted to try out was the mat. The packaging states that the mat is heat- & stain-resistant (nothing sticks), protects your work surface from hot glue, tacky glue, Mod Podge and acrylic paints and that it’s an easy soap & water clean up. You can also use the mat as landing pad for heated glue guns.
The first thing I wanted to test was to see if hot glue really would come off the mat as easily as the packaging claimed it would. I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve gotten glue on my craft desk and had to scrape it off with an X-acto knife or scissors. I’ve peeled off the finish on my desk, left nicks in the finish, etc. There are even some bits of glue that are STILL on my desk because I gave up with trying to get it all off.
See those pesky glue spots on my desk? NO MORE!!

I dripped a few beads of glue on the mat and when it cooled, I was able to pick it right up with my fingers.

I decided to go hard core with the glue. I was very generous with the hot glue gun and piped a big long line of it onto the mat and let it cool down.

I then took the paddle that comes in the kit and scraped it right off with hardly any effort at all.

Speaking of the paddle, the packaging states that the soft-press of the tip of the paddle won’t mar delicate embellishments and it helps with precise glue placement. One of the added benefits that I found from the paddle is that it’s great with eliminating “stringy-thingies.” You know when you apply your hot glue and when you pull the glue gun away, there’s a long string of hot glue that you just can’t seem to get rid of? The paddle is great for putting right up against the glue gun and “cutting off” the stringy-thingy. Nothing sticks to it and it’s heat-resistant so it’s perfect for this use.

Even though nothing sticks to the mat, it does tend to attract dust and lint, but a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth keeps it clean.

The finger caps are my all-time favorite item from the Hot Glue Gun Helpers. There are three caps (2 sizes) and they are heat-resistant safe up to 600 degrees F. Not that I would ever find myself in a position where I would be using something THAT hot, but that claim made it easy for me to put them on and try them out without hesitation.

The caps definitely felt sized for female fingers. I was able to get the biggest of the three onto my thumb, but couldn’t pull it all the way down. I don’t think I have terribly big fingers. My ring finger is only a 5 1/2 so I think my fingers are rather normal sized.

As I was working on a project with the i-bond Cordless Glue Gun, I tried out the caps when I was gluing a ribbon onto the back of a monogram I decorated for my bedroom. I couldn’t even feel the heat come through the cap.

Here’s a quick video run down I did of the Hot Glue Gun Helpers:
The Press Wand is the next item I tried out. The great thing about the items in pack is that they’re not just for hot glue gun use. They have other uses, as well. The Press Wand is multi-purpose. Of course, it’s non-stick and heat-resistant, just like everything else in the kit, but it’s also wonderful for smoothing out paper or cardstock when you glue them down using a liquid glue. Ever have those pesky glue bubbles under your paper that just don’t want to flatten out? The Press Wand is perfect for that!
I applied some liquid glue to a piece of chipboard that I wanted to cover.

Then, I placed my cardstock on top and rolled the wand over the top to even out any bubbles and so that the cardstock would dry flat on the chipboard.

I’ve always liked the hot glue technique on rubber brayers, but it’s hard to get the glue to come off easily. I wondered if I could get the same concept to work on the Press Wand.
I squeezed hot glue onto the Press Wand in a squiggle pattern and let the glue cool.

Then, I rolled the Wand over an ink pad, making sure to be careful not to loosen the glue.

I rolled the Wand back and forth over a scrap of white cardstock and got the coolest spattered ink background! I did have to be a bit careful that I didn’t move the glue too much because after all, the Press Wand IS non-stick. It was a bit messy of a process, but I really like the unique effect.

The glue slid right off the Wand when I was done.

I used the background piece as part of a little card that I made….and this is where I took out the Tweezers from the Hot Glue Gun Helpers. I really like the non-slip and no-stick feature of the tweezer tips. Picking up little items and trying to get precise placement is hard with the fingers at times, so having tweezers that aren’t going to fumble with small objects is a plus.
I applied a small dot of liquid glue to the bottom of the card I made (using the Press Wand background I created) and then used the tweezers to place my little flat-backed beads.

I found that the tweezers are also a plus when trying to apply a small amount of hot glue to VERY small embellishments such as the flat-backed beads. I squeezed a very small amount of glue out of the glue gun and applied it to my beads by holding them up to the nozzle with the tweezers.

I then adhered the beads to the front of a felt-covered journal that I made with the tweezers to guide the placement. My fingers were saved from getting burned and I didn’t have to worry about fumbling about with such a small embellishment.

Pros: – SO many of them
  • Finger caps are heat resistant and safe up to 600 degrees F, protect fingers when pressing hot glue, non-stick surface
  • Tweezers have non-slip, non-stick and heat resistant tips
  • Press Wand is great for smearing glue, rolling and smoothing paper while gluing
  • Paddle has a soft-edge tip so it doesn’t press delicate embellishments, great for “cutting off” those pesky “stringy-thingies” when pulling your glue gun away from your project
  • Mat is stain resistant and non-stick, protects work surface with a convenient size of 14.6” x 11.5″, great place to rest your glue gun, fast and easy water & soap clean up
Cons:
  • The finger caps (“thimbles”), while they do come in two sizes, may not fit on particularly larger fingers.
  • The mat tends to accumulate lint quickly, especially on the black decal, but a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth cleans it off nicely.
These helpers will definitely have a place on my craft desk at all times. I have a feeling my daughter will be “borrowing” them at her craft table, too. I know that I’ll feel a lot better with her wearing the caps on her fingers when she’s using my glue guns, especially the high-temp gun. More than just using these helpers with hot glue, they’ll come in handy for so much more.
The Hot Glue Gun Helpers retails for a price of $19.99 and can be found on Amazon.com

Having recently recovered from a very painful burn on my finger I’d have to say the finger thimble thingies would be fabulous! But the mat looks awesome too. Not sure if I’m eligible to enter (I’m in Australia), but these look fantastic!

  2. Donna VW February 22, 2011 at 8:09 am #

I love that we can now get up close and personal with our hot glue gun and our hot glue!

  3. Elaine A February 22, 2011 at 8:25 am #

I am so glad these items are finally available to purchase. Ever since Cathy and Steve spoke about them last year I’ve waiting for them. They are something I would get lots of use out of. And Erika, I love all the different uses you found for them.

This is definitely a product that I would buy. Here’s why…. I constantly burn my tips trying to get things exactly where I want them & I also have a very hard time getting bubbles out of my work sometimes. Some materials are very hard to work with. Actually, I almost googled the product before I finished reading the article to see where I could purchase it, but then I saw the giveaway! :) This product is wonderful for any crafter of any medium who has to use a glue gun. Scrapbooking, mixed media, etc. Awesome product. Had to be created by a a crafter themselves! :)

  5. Lisa G. February 22, 2011 at 8:40 am #

oooh wow- this looks awesome!!! I absolutely HATE the stringies left by my glue gun….and I’ve burned my fingers more times than I can count….this looks like a win-win all around!!!!!

  6. Jennifer February 22, 2011 at 8:41 am #

My favorite feature is the finger caps. Burned fingers are no fun. Not sure if I would purchase this product, but I am definitely going to put it on my amazon wish list; which is where my family does all its birthday and Christmas shopping. :)

  7. Maria February 22, 2011 at 8:46 am #

There are too many pro’s to even list. I work with small embellishments and am always burning the tips of my fingers. So tired of those blisters. So having those tweezers and the finger thimbles sounds FABULOUS!

I have also ruined many “craft surfaces” with hot glue gun “Stuff” so the mat sounds fantastic.

I would definitely buy this product without a second thought! Thanks for this great write up! Have a great day.

My favorite feature of the Hot Glue Gun Helpers by Plaid would have to be without a doubt that my fingers would not get burned.

I would absolutely purchase this product. I had no idea this product was available to buy.

The reason I would purchase the Hot Glue Gun Helpers is the fact that there will be no more dribbles of glue on my craft table, no more burns to my fingers, and an asset to my craft room!

  9. Amalia February 22, 2011 at 8:56 am #

Depending on the price I think this would be great! I love the finger caps and the paddle tool. The burns and strings drive me batty!

  10. Melanie February 22, 2011 at 9:09 am #

Well, now that you thought up using the wand for making a rolling stamp … THAT is my favorite thing! And not getting burned with use of the finger tip guards, oh yeah!

  11. Marijo February 22, 2011 at 9:19 am #

I think that the thimble things would be my favorite along with the mat. Anything to save me from getting burned and to keep my craft space clean. Thanks.

Seriously amazing….I love this Hot Glue Gun Helpers by Plaid. I love that it will prevent messes with the non stick surfaces. I MUST HAVE. Thanks for the chance to win. I will cross my fingers and toes. Happy Tuesday.

  15. Annie February 22, 2011 at 10:18 am #

The thimbles are a great idea, but I have huge hands and they might not fit mine very well.

I also love the mat…I’ve always got glue spots and stuff all over the table, too, and I’d feel comfortable using the glue gun anywhere with the mat there to protect the surface.

    The card turned out beautiful!

  16. Erin February 22, 2011 at 10:21 am #

So many reasons I would buy this!! Like you said, it would be great with all kinds of glue, not just hot glue…the tweezers look great too – I’ve struggled with placing small items.

  17. Rebekah★All Thingz Related★ February 22, 2011 at 10:21 am #

My favorite is the mat! I hate getting glue all over my table!!

  18. Jackie February 22, 2011 at 10:23 am #

I love all of it but the finger tip things would come in so handy. I don’t use a glue gun anymore because I have burned myself so much with it. I would definitely buy this if I could find it locally.

  19. Pat K February 22, 2011 at 10:23 am #

Would love to win the glue gun helpers. They would be such a help in preventing serious burns. Thanks for the opportunity.

  20. catnap February 22, 2011 at 10:25 am #

All the gizmos look useful, but I think the best is the heat resistant mat. Hard to come up with an alternative to that. The more I read about this kit, the better I like it, but the price is daunting. Not sure I’d buy it now. Have to think about it.

  21. Moi February 22, 2011 at 10:25 am #

I am terrified of my hot glue gun b/c I constantly burn fingers. I pull it out only if it is something that absolutely needs hot glue. I think the helpers would totally make me use mine more if I am not scared of burning my fingers/ruining my table

  22. Sara February 22, 2011 at 10:31 am #

hello, I love hot glue gun, I always wanted to buy one but I saw a problem of excess heat and I was afraid to get burned, I believe that with these Glue Gun Helpers, I would not mind buying the gun is a tool useful.

  23. floridagirl February 22, 2011 at 10:40 am #

  25. Katie_Bolinger February 22, 2011 at 11:21 am #

OMGoodness Erika that make your own background stamp with hot glue is such a good idea. That adds one more reason to want this product. I like the finger caps.

Oh my goodness…I love thi Hot Glue Gun Helpers set.
This set has so many helpful items to help with the hot glue..my favorite being the twizzers. When I grip a small rhinestone with what I have, they usually zing across the room and my vacuum will find them.
Yes, I would definately buy this set.
I would love to win this set..thanks for the opportunity.

  27. smahrty February 22, 2011 at 11:39 am #

My fave is the rubber thimbles! Those look awesome!

  28. Patchi February 22, 2011 at 11:43 am #

My favorite part of the kit are the tweezers – I’d love to have ones that gripped and don’t stick to adhesive! The rest of the kit looks great too and I’ve added it to my wish list!

  29. RAP February 22, 2011 at 12:03 pm #

I would definitely consider buying this and my daughter will DEFINITELY steal it. She is always making projects and burning her self. I think my favortie feature would be the finger tips or the paddle thing. I wish I had had this when working on my kid’s science projects.

  30. Linda February 22, 2011 at 12:06 pm #

These hot glue tools look so handy….especially the finger caps. Thank you for the great review.

  31. TiaKeas February 22, 2011 at 12:19 pm #

The whole set is a great thing to have but I love the tweezers! I have arthritis and using the non stick tweezers would help me put glue on small parts. Hurray for who ever came up with the idea!! thank-you!!

  32. bubbyx3 February 22, 2011 at 12:22 pm #

AMAZING invention! I have 10 fingers 6 of which have been blistered and burned over soooo many years of using a hot glue gun! I LOVE the thimble and especially the tweezers…they rock! Please consider an old pro for the big win.

  33. deb February 22, 2011 at 1:50 pm #

My favorite feature would have to be the safety from burns provided by the finger thimbles… a hot glue gun session without getting burned fingers? HEAVEN! I’d definitely consider purchasing this… my fingertips would very much appreciate it I’m sure!

  34. Sara vs. Sarah February 22, 2011 at 1:51 pm #

That mat is a great idea! I would buy this product.

  35. Ying February 22, 2011 at 2:06 pm #

I like a surface I can work on without worrying I’d burn the table. lol The wand and tweezers are also nice so things go where the go with minimal fingerprints. Good luck! Maybe get it when the kids are older and I get a glue gun too lol

  38. Tamara February 22, 2011 at 2:21 pm #

This is amazing!! I love the finger protection. I have a non-stick mat from Tim holtz, so the mat is not as much of a draw for me, but the heat resistant thimbles…WOW!!!

  39. chuy February 22, 2011 at 2:23 pm #

all items are amazing, burns, hate those burns every time I use hot glue, pain no more!!! that is the best part of this set….. would so love to get this set.

  40. Tambo February 22, 2011 at 2:25 pm #

I have to say that the finger covers are a smart invention. They are like little hot pads, but you still have the use of your fingers, making it so you can still work with your other fingers. I like the paddle too.

  41. Kat February 22, 2011 at 2:29 pm #

I personally like the tweezers and the paddle. I also like the mat. I would all three pieces but those look like the best parts of the whole kit.

  42. Kristyn @ Good Gravy Crafts February 22, 2011 at 3:10 pm #

What’s your favorite feature of the Hot Glue Gun Helpers?
I especially like the thimbles, I have very sensitive hands and have to be VERY careful when using hot glue.
Is this a product you would buy?
    Oh yes!
    Why or why not?
I have had it on my WishList, just not a buy right now item…we are on a tight budget. I also think this would allow me to safely let my crafty little lady use the glue gun under my supervision.
Crossing my fingers, thanks for the chance!!!!

OMIGOSH, this is the best little kit ever! I had retired my glue gun because of all the “cons” you listed, but with this wonderful kit would definitely bring it back to life! I love that you got creative with the wand… very neat idea and project! I think the best of all would be getting rid of all those gluey strings all over… hated them! Thanks!

  67. mypaperpleasure February 22, 2011 at 6:47 pm #

  68. Jan Castle February 22, 2011 at 6:48 pm #

Sounds like the perfect set of tools to use with a hot glue gun!!! I don’t use a hot glue gun presently becaus of all the stated problems…would certainly give it anoher try with the use of these tools!

  69. janine February 22, 2011 at 6:52 pm #

I first heard about this product a while back from Amy with Mod Podge Rocks! She had written a blog post about the product and I instantly fell in love with the idea of no hot glue gun burns =) Thanks for the chance to win!!

  70. miatagal February 22, 2011 at 6:53 pm #

Hi, My favorite feature is the non stick, heat resistant mat to rest my hot glue gun on when not in use to protect my work surface from the leaky hot glue. Yes, I would definitely buy this product as it seems to be the perfect solution to a number of not glue gun issues!

    Barb

  71. Rebecca Ednie February 22, 2011 at 6:59 pm #

I love the non stick mat and the spreader. I can imagine it would be awesome for spreading regular glue too!

  72. Savannah O'Gwynn February 22, 2011 at 7:00 pm #

LOVE LOVE LOVE it–I love those little finger tips! And the wand–so fun! THANKS for the chance to win!

  73. Amanda R February 22, 2011 at 7:04 pm #

Love the mat and the finger tips. What great ideas! Now I can pull my glue gun back out and put it to use.

  74. Sheri C February 22, 2011 at 7:05 pm #

I think they all would be my favorites and I would consider myself very lucky to win this set. They all would be quite handy in my craft forays in the glue gun world. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome set.

  75. Vicky February 22, 2011 at 7:08 pm #

Probably would buy this. I do use a glue often and these tools would make it a much easier. I really like the paddle and tweezers.

  76. gobarb26 February 22, 2011 at 7:11 pm #

I think this product is a wonderful idea. I am especially interested in the paddle and the tweezers. I have a glue mat now, but I think this whole set is fantastic. I would use the paddle for applying small bits of glue as well as for pressing items down. The tweezers are GENIUS! I have such a problem with getting tweezers to hold onto small embellies. This would definitely solve my problem. I like to make wreaths and that is usually the only time I pull out my glue gun because of the problems doing certain things. It would get a whole lot of use if I had the Hot Glue Gun Helpers!

  77. Swr4him February 22, 2011 at 7:16 pm #

I am excited about all the tools and especially the mat. I have not used the glue gun that much because of burnt fingers and dripping which these products address. I love the ideas of the finger thimbles because I like using finger thimbles when using papers.

  78. amy V. February 22, 2011 at 7:17 pm #

I’ve lost all my finger prints with hot glue accidents, I think the finger protectors look really cool. I tried the sewing ones, but the holes in those don’t really keep the glue out.

  79. Melinda AKA medialady February 22, 2011 at 7:23 pm #

Wow! This is such a great kit because I am always getting burned so bad with my glue gun that I very seldom use it.

  80. McStamper February 22, 2011 at 7:29 pm #

Love everything about it, but for me the finger caps sound great. Many burns.

  81. Tina Gilliland February 22, 2011 at 7:39 pm #

I would LOVE this!!! I would definitely use the finger tips AND the mat the most!! It would be great to even just rest your glue gun on it and not have to worry about it falling onto something else it might heat up or melt. LOVE it and thanks for the chance to win!

  82. Cindy deRosier February 22, 2011 at 7:41 pm #

This is absolutely on my wishlist, and I can think of at least one other person who is going to get one as a gift from me. Thanks for the chance to win!

  83. Maureen F. February 22, 2011 at 7:41 pm #

I love the finger covers – awesome idea. I will definitely buy this

  84. Pat February 22, 2011 at 7:44 pm #

Wow! I would love to have this “helper”! I have quit using my hot glue gun for some of the very reason this helper was thought of! The mat really interests me as I hate cleaning up when I have an accident!

  85. Isabel Z February 22, 2011 at 7:44 pm #

I am so excited that you showcased these products because I was unaware of them. As a preschool teacher and mom of three our glue guns are used A LOT!!! The finger protectors are my favorite because I have burned my fingers more times than I care to admit.

  86. Natalie B. February 22, 2011 at 7:49 pm #

These items are a must have item for crafters! I can’t wait to get my hands on them. My favorite part is that they are heat resistant. The tools look like they would work well with heat guns as well as hot glue guns!

  87. MaryNSC February 22, 2011 at 7:49 pm #

  89. doodlingdebbie February 22, 2011 at 8:03 pm #

After reading Erika’s review. What is not to like about this wonderful crafting product. Most of us crafter have been victims of the horrible sticky icky burns from hot glue guns. The finger protectors and the neat tools is like a crafters dream. I am so glad to see a product like this available for all of us who use a hot glue gun a lot. I make a lot of floral arrangements and have to use a hot glue gun quite often so I know this would be something worth buying. Of course it would be nice to win one too. :-)

  90. GreenScrap February 22, 2011 at 8:03 pm #

That looks amazing for me!! I love the finger thingy my hands are small so this would be perfect for me. Love it!! Can’t wait to see it in a store!! TFS!! Take Care!!

To never have burnt fingers again – I would absolutely buy this!! If you don’t draw my name, I will definitely be ordering this!!

  92. SuZeQ February 22, 2011 at 8:05 pm #

My favorite part is NO MORE BURNS. I am horrified to use a hot glue gun so this is the answer to all of my prayers. Thanks a bunch!

  93. Grammykrob February 22, 2011 at 8:14 pm #

I think my favorite item was the mat. It is so hard to keep hot glue off of your table and other projects. YES I would buy one if the price was reasonable.

  94. Nana Jo February 22, 2011 at 8:19 pm #

Very interesting-but you haven’t won me on buying one – I would have to try it for myself.

  95. Susie McCormick February 22, 2011 at 8:25 pm #

I just burned my fingers on Sat with my hot glue gun! I saw this products video and told my husband I had to have this!!! I will totally buy this!

  96. julie m February 22, 2011 at 8:27 pm #

the finger protection really appeals to me. i have burned my fingers so often… just too impatient. if i am not lucky enough to win the set i will be buying it. i love to play with hot glue.

  97. Karen February 22, 2011 at 8:35 pm #

  98. The World Through My Eyes February 22, 2011 at 8:39 pm #

All of the items look amazing, but I have burned mysef many times so the finger caps would be my fav..

  99. ddlady February 22, 2011 at 8:51 pm #

I would love the finger caps to keep from burning my fingers. Also the paddle would be great for all of those little strings that get in the way! But, I think everyone in the kit would be of great use in crafting. Would love to win it!!!!!
    Linda Cichowski

  100. Ann February 22, 2011 at 8:55 pm #

Can’t wait until these are in the stores! The finger covers would be so helpful. I can see using the mat for other crafts since it is heat resistant. Embossing with the heat gun!

  101. Bunny February 22, 2011 at 9:01 pm #

I love the finger caps – I am always burning my fingers when working with the hot glue gun. It all looks like great things to have.

  102. rush February 22, 2011 at 9:24 pm #

my favorite feature is the non-stick quality of all of the tools. i haven’t used a glue gun for a long time because it gets hot glue all over the place. i might purchase this tool kit if i could talk myself into working with hot glue again AND if i had a half-off coupon.

  103. Denise T. February 22, 2011 at 9:24 pm #

oh the whole kit looks awesome, but if I could only use one..it would be the finger caps.

  104. Ladybug February 22, 2011 at 9:25 pm #

OMG, Plaid must’ve been inside my head, reading my mind. (scary place to be at the best of times! LOL)

They thought of everything that one could possibly use w/ a hot glue gun, right down to the rolling wand.

My fav. feature of the Hot Glue Gun Helpers has to be “no more burnt fingers”!

I would definitely buy this product becuz it’s been an answer to my prayers! LOVE it when a company thinks like I do! :-)

Thanks so much for a chance to win this li’l gem!! :-)

  105. Anonymous February 22, 2011 at 9:50 pm #

I am so glad that someone developed a product that helps us not burn our fingers! Ouch! I’ve done that one too many times trying to perfectly place an embellishment on a project.

    Jennifer KC.

  106. Amy February 22, 2011 at 9:53 pm #

Awesome product! I love my hot glue gun, but it drips a little and the glue is well…hot! The fact that the mat wipes clean is an awesome feature and the fingertips and the scraper I would definitely use! Thanks!

  107. Debbie Flowers February 22, 2011 at 10:00 pm #

How awesome is this product! No more burned hands or fingers! The wand looks to be a great tool for smearing the glue. I definitely have to have these Hot Glue Helpers! Thanks for the chance

  108. Raven February 22, 2011 at 10:13 pm #

    I agree with Louise,

I have suffered from finger burns as well, and so the finger covers would be the sure thing for me, too!

  109. Susie February 22, 2011 at 10:27 pm #

It would be so great if those sweet pink finger thimbles would stop all the burns I manage to inflict!

  110. Phyllis Strickland February 22, 2011 at 10:31 pm #

The glue spreader would be my favorite, but the finger thimble would be a close second. I saw this demonstrated at CHA Summer 2010 and had the opportunity to try it and I am so glad it is available at last! It definitedly is something I would buy as soon as it shows up at the craft stores.

  111. Nancy R Grimes February 22, 2011 at 10:50 pm #

This is a product I would be interested in purchasing. My glue gun always drips creating quite a mwss. The spatula would be very helpfull for placing small embellishments

  112. Bandon, Oregon February 22, 2011 at 11:30 pm #

Oh my Goodness!! I would LOVE to win this Give a Way!!! Yes I would purchase this item too. The thimbles look Great… I LOVE the pad idea.. the paddle and the press wand… I would LOVE to try them out and tell you which would be my favorite one!!! Thanks for the chance to win….

    Faith Gaspar

  113. LisaAnn February 23, 2011 at 12:53 am #

I love the finger caps and tweezers big time! But all of the pieces would be really helpful!

  114. Lori February 23, 2011 at 1:00 am #

I am mostly interested in this for the finger covers. I love that I wouldn’t have to worry about burning skin off.

  115. sucor February 23, 2011 at 1:20 am #

This is a product that I would buy. I’ve burnt my fingers too often and I have a problem with the glue strings. The tweezers would be such a help with bling and the mat would save my crafting table. Thanks for a great review of the the Plaid Glue Gun Helpers!

  116. sophie sl February 23, 2011 at 1:23 am #

Love the fact that glue is no longer limited to merely sticking stuff together!

  117. Mary Friederichsen February 23, 2011 at 3:36 am #

I would buy this in a heart beat!!
Love the mat, even though I have the Ranger mat, this looks thicker and better suited for the heat. I have burned my other mat with the tip of the glue gun before. So this and the paddle would be wonderful, and well so would the “thimbles” for your fingers!
Thank you for the chance and for doing such a great review!

  118. Marie / Legojenta February 23, 2011 at 5:53 am #

I really like that it’s all heat-resistant! I can see using the mat for embossing on too, and not having to worry about the table underneath being damaged from the heat =)

  119. Irit Shalom February 23, 2011 at 6:07 am #

O would but all helpers as I used hot gun a lot- atrered art is my favorite mostly and you need to use it there. The finger cups are just the best help ever!

  120. Kim C. February 23, 2011 at 6:54 am #

Oh wow, this is a must have for any crafter. For me it would be the finger tips. I too come out of every hot glue gun project with at least one burn. I have to say, I love the hot pink color just as much.

  121. debb February 23, 2011 at 7:04 am #

Love these! I am definitely in the market for them- I am tired of burnt fingers! The best part is now I can get the glue precisely where I want it without the fear of burning myself (and ending those pesky strings is a great plus too!)

  122. julie1551 February 23, 2011 at 8:06 am #

OMG! You mean no more blisters! Woo hoo no more burnt fingers. I can’t believe how good these items look off I go to buy them & if I win a spare set that would be even better but I can’t wait to get them. Thanks for a GREAT review.

  123. Chrisi February 23, 2011 at 8:43 am #

I love the finger snoods & the coated tweezers. This is a wonderful group of tools

  124. Katherine February 23, 2011 at 9:17 am #

Thanks for the review Erika and the creative ways to use these tools. I love the idea of no more burned fingers and stringy thingies!!

  125. Sherry'sPaperie February 23, 2011 at 9:38 am #

Wow, how can you chose just one of these? I want them all! I have used my glue gun for ages — it’s just to much of a mess and waiting for it to heat up and cool off is an issue, too.

  126. Kroppin Karen February 23, 2011 at 11:21 am #

Well, all the features looked really helpful and I would definitely think about purchasing this. But if I had to pick only one, it would be the finger guards, I always burn my fingers! I have a large window valance project coming up, so I hope I win! Love the pink color too.

  127. Dana February 23, 2011 at 1:02 pm #

LOVE the tweezers and finger covers. I mean, can you imagine how many fingers they will save from glue gun burns???

  128. Sandy February 23, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

I would buy them, as long as they didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I would love to safely use my glue gun without getting burned. I also really like the non-stick mat!

  129. ParkNSlide February 23, 2011 at 1:36 pm #

I want these now! No burned fingers is my favorite part. I’ve been wanting these ever since CHA last summer.

  130. Annette J. February 23, 2011 at 2:32 pm #

Those Hot Glue Gun Helpers were amazing, I think I would like the finger covers the best, because I always forget and poke something while it is still hot!!LOL

  131. Anonymous February 23, 2011 at 2:50 pm #

Finally, someone created a product that would save us from burning our fingers while using a hot glue gun. I even stopped using my hot glue gun because I couldn’t stand getting “owies”. Thank you Plaid.
    Barb W. from Ontario.

  132. La Vikinga February 23, 2011 at 3:51 pm #

    Yes!
I believe in this product! It seems sooo useful – all of them! I hope they’ll arrive to my country soooon!

    Charlotta

  133. Barb Gallagher February 23, 2011 at 5:15 pm #

I like the variety of tools which will enable you to use just the “right” one for a specific need. It looks like Plaid really thought this out and planned well. Yes, I want one!! I am sure my 3 daughters will, too!

  134. Denise February 23, 2011 at 5:46 pm #

Love, love, love the finger caps. I am forever burning my fingers. I would for sure buy this.

  135. AShu93 February 23, 2011 at 7:24 pm #

I definitely would buy this. I think I like the paddle part the best because it’s non-stick & can get rid of the glue strings.

  136. Sue February 23, 2011 at 8:14 pm #

Oh yeah! The finger caps are definitely for me! Good idea to use the rolelr as a stamp! Always like multi purpose things!

  137. andrea February 23, 2011 at 8:52 pm #

My favorite thing would be that I wouldn’t burn my fingers anymore. I think that you could get rid of the stringy glue would be wonderful too. I hope to win one but I would also purchase this because I might actually use the glue gun again. I get tired of burning my fingers. :)

  138. Lyn S February 23, 2011 at 8:53 pm #

I like the idea of those non-stick tweezers and also the finger protector things….no more burns, yay!

  139. Leisa February 23, 2011 at 10:05 pm #

Wow – so many cool features….hmmm, I think the easy clean up is my favorite.

  140. Vanessa February 23, 2011 at 10:50 pm #

Absolutely I would buy this! My fav part of the kit would have to be the fingertip savers :-) Thanks for a chance to win!

  141. Teresa February 23, 2011 at 11:04 pm #

I think it is a very clever too. I like the finger caps. Be nice to be able to glue without fear of burned fingers

  142. Cheryl February 24, 2011 at 10:44 am #

I’ve been waiting for these, it seems, like forever!! I’m especially looking forward to the tweezers with the cushy tips – I can see those as being quite handy even when not using hot glue.

(Side note for Erika – when you get the hot glue somewhere you didn’t want it, like on your desk, try putting an ice cube on it for a bit. Usually once it’s good and cold, the glue will pop right off.)

  143. Carol February 24, 2011 at 11:20 am #

I definitely would buy this product. My favorite part are the finger thimbles.

  144. La'Diva February 24, 2011 at 1:20 pm #

My favorite product would be the “finger caps”. I am ALWAYS burning my fingers! Also, I love the pad to catch the glue. It gets messy sometimes. I would totally purchase this.

  145. acs004 February 24, 2011 at 2:49 pm #

No brainer – the finger caps!!

  146. Cassi February 24, 2011 at 3:46 pm #

i just love the tools and not burning myself. i would absolutely buy this, let us know when it’s available for sale!

  147. Crafty Pleaser February 24, 2011 at 4:23 pm #

I’m a 15 year old homeschool student who has just started crafting in the last year. All the products look wonderful, but the mat would save me money and time! :) Having purchased many silicone mats and plastic, this would be an ideal solution for my craft table. The fast that it’s pink, only makes it sweeter!

  148. Dena February 24, 2011 at 11:05 pm #

What a fantastic idea. I would love the mat and the paddle, but I think most of all I would love the tweezers. Some of my embellishments are so tiny, to be able to pick them up and secure them with hot glue without burning my fingers would be a lifesaver.

  149. Sabrina Mix February 25, 2011 at 6:03 am #

I would definitely buy this kit. It’s awesome! I really loved the finger caps and hope I can win it.

    xoxo

  150. AnnW February 25, 2011 at 12:34 pm #

I’m definitely considering purchasing this product. I’m most exited about the finger protector, but I do wish it covered a little more of the finger.

  151. Brandy M February 25, 2011 at 7:54 pm #

I am really excited about the finger thimbles! There are plenty of times I need to press something down on hot glue and it hurts! I would definately buy this product! If it keeps me from burning my hands and ruining my surfaces I am all for it! Thanks for the chance to win!

  152. Angela@Tinkology February 26, 2011 at 9:22 pm #

I would definitely use this!! I have been trying to find one locally and have been unsuccessful!!

I love the thimbles….I have been burnt so many times from my glue gun that I think I have permanently burned off my fingerprints!!

  153. Gill September 13, 2012 at 10:40 am #

for me it would have to be the finger protectors as they would remove the worry of someone burning themselves at one of my classes. I always take precautions ie have a bowl of cold water nearby, but this is not always enough. I reckon these are the best invention since the safety pin! lol
