Company Feature and Giveaway: Spellbinders

Disclosure

Founded in 2003 by Stacey and Jeff Caron, Spellbinders is a leading innovator in manual die cutting tools.

An avid crafter, Stacey noticed the lack of detail in the dies available for paper crafting.  She decided to change her longtime passion for paper crafting and her vision of exquisitely detailed and sophisticated dies into a business.  In 2003, Stacey and her husband, Jeff,  invested everything, including their life savings, into the business.  Together, they decided to create a universal die-cut system with die templates that are the most detailed on the market.

The first 2,500 Wizard™ die cutting and embossing machines and 10,000 dies were hand made.  They were known as Geometrics and are the inspiration of the famously popular line of Spellbinders™ Nestabilities®.  From the start, Stacey committed to bring the best possible dies to market, offering good value at a fair price.   There are no other dies on the market that offer the intricate, sophisticated details that Spellbinders offers.

Spellbinders’ mission is to develop and provide exquisitely detailed, quality craft products that offer value and versatility.  The goal is to design crafting products that cut, emboss and stencil to inspire the creation of beautiful, professional projects.  Equally important are Stacey’s core values of providing opportunity and fostering innovation through partnerships and working together in harmony.

Spellbinders has partnered with companies and licensed designers that are endorsed and approved to develop products that coordinate with Spellbinders’ patented die templates.  Stacey has partnered with and mentored a number of small and start-up companies, providing business guidance and sharing her vision.  Through these partnerships Spellbinders continues to strengthen the crafts community.  The synergy between the companies allows customers to understand the unlimited creativity together they can provide for inspirational crafting.

What makes Spellbinders unique is unlike any other company in the crafts industry, Stacey sponsors her design team, bringing them to Phoenix, and educating them in the company culture and the Spellbinders brand. This process has empowered the design team, which is key in today’s social media network, to become knowledgeable Spellbinders ambassadors for creative and inspirational use of all Spellbinders’ products.

Those interested in becoming a Spellbinders Design Team Member must submit projects and write an essay on why they want to be a Spellbinders Design Team member.  There a two rounds of project submissions. Call for Design Team members is announced the beginning January every year.  New Design Team members for the year join the team in April.

Among the most popular products Spellbinders carries are their Spellbinders™ Nestabilities®.  These delicate dies cut and emboss and are sold in nested sets of multiple sizes.  Visit the Spellbinders website to see the full collection of dies.

Most intriguing from Spellbinders are the new Edgeability Dies.  These new dies create delicate edges for your projects as well as intricate designs. Each set comes with an edge and two designs that can be mixed and matched to create different looks.

I love Spellbinders dies! The level of detail is amazing and they are so easy to store. The Nestabilities Labels Eight is my favorite; I’ve used them as frames, labels, journaling spots and more.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  2. Yaritza October 21, 2011 at 7:23 am #

I use spellbinders nearly every time I make a card. The 3d flower dies are my current favorite. Try to incoorporate them all the time.

  3. Lindy October 21, 2011 at 7:24 am #

Love, love, love my spellbinders dies! They have amazing design teams that always keep me inspired! I haven’t tried the edge dies yet so would love to win some. I love how easy these dies are to use and that you can choose with a simple “sandwich adjustment” whether or not you want to emboss too.

  6. Kay October 21, 2011 at 7:28 am #

Yes, I’ve definitely used Spellbinders products- they are incredible! They are all wonderful, so it’s extremely difficult to choose a favorite. I think my favorites (at the moment) are the nested pennants and lacey pennants- I just finished making a Halloween banner for the family room that ROCKS (if I do say so myself), using these dies!

I have quite a few Spellbinders dies that I use in my diecut machine. I especially am inspired by the Frameabilities(especially the scalloped edge frame die)…I use them as they are cut, or many times, I use pieces of the frames (which I have cut apart) and use just the pieces as accents, embellishments and borders. I love the fact that they are multi-use.

  31. Mary October 21, 2011 at 8:36 am #

I love layers….I love shapes, I love embossing….I love flowers…..and Spellbinders allows me the ability to create all of these pieces of eye candy on my cards. I’ve been weaving their die cuts into my cards for years. I think I might actually own one of the original Wizard machines…if not….the original, one of the early ones. I love Spellbinder dies and I’ve been using the dies to create beautiful cards for several years and I know I’ll be die cutting with my Spellbinder dies for many years to come.

  32. jusaweecatnap October 21, 2011 at 8:37 am #

I haven’t tried them yet, but I always admired the Nestabilities.

  33. Dara Lynn October 21, 2011 at 8:44 am #

Recently, I found I don’t need hundreds of punches, and invested into all the classic shapes from Spellbinders..circles, squares, ovals..you get the picture..and donated my single punches..not only was this a space saver…but my “go-to” in spite of owning a Silhouette. My most recent “Santa list” are the Spiral Blossoms 1&2,postage stamp edgeability dies, and the Grand Calibur machine. Crossing my fingers!!

  34. Anonymous October 21, 2011 at 8:48 am #

I hang my head in shame as I answer this: “No, I have not used the Nestabilities.” That’s not to say I haven’t wanted to, trust me. I would love to have the Edgeabilities dies – they are great looking with loads of possibilities.

Oh my do I LOVE spellbinders, I think I use them on almost every card I made, I have a basket full of them, couldn’t tell you which is my favorite, I seem to go for the lacy circle alot, I don’t have any of the edgeabilites yet though so this would be great to get me started on them 🙂

  46. Kathy October 21, 2011 at 10:21 am #

I recently bought a Sizzix, and got some of their new basic shapes dies. Then I bought a few Spellbinders….what a difference. I didn’t realize at first how much I would want the ability to emboss as well as cut out those basic shapes. Since realizing this, Spellbinders has been the dies for me! I can’t wait to be able to add some of the Edgeabilities to my stash! I like the basic shapes best because they are so versatile.

  47. pennyd October 21, 2011 at 10:22 am #

Just about every card or scrap page has Spellbinder’s as part of the design. I am particularly enjoying the dies they created in partnership with Heartfelt Creations – their window dies are incredible as is, cut apart or just embossed!

  48. Anita October 21, 2011 at 10:22 am #

I love Spellbinder dies! The edgebilities are my favorites.

  49. Caroline October 21, 2011 at 10:25 am #

I love LOVE love Spellbinders dies!!! I use them on almost everything I make. I have the Grand Calibur and love the big dies too… great for scrapbook layouts. My favorite dies besides the various labels are the matching ones for Heartfelt Creations stamps. It’s great to be able to color images and get them die cut so quickly instead of hand cutting with little scissors. I dont have any of the edgabilities yet… would love to win this giveaway so I could try them out. thanks!

  50. Pat October 21, 2011 at 10:26 am #

  55. Kayla and Samuel October 21, 2011 at 10:42 am #

  66. Donna October 21, 2011 at 12:32 pm #

Spellbinders are my favorite! If I had enough money I would buy them all. I don;t do too many cards without using a Spellbinder’s die. It would be really difficult to pick a favorite. I love flower dies though!

  67. Tracy Neidetcher October 21, 2011 at 12:39 pm #

This is on my Christmas list… I had bought a Cricut, but just don’t use it so to go out and buy “another tool” per my family seemed absurd. So I have put it as number one on the Christmas list. I want the butterfly dies so badly… I have recently gotten into making cards and see all of the great projects on Pinterest I could use this for. So excited that Christmas could come early!!!

  68. Marionment October 21, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

  71. Stampin_melissa October 21, 2011 at 1:31 pm #

I just LOVE my Spellbinders dies! I use my Nestabilities the most. I just love how some companies are designing stamps to fit perfectly with these dies! I only have a son, so I find for my scrapbooking I use the inverted scalloped shapes and the pentagons since I think they are a little bit more masculine.

  72. Swr4him October 21, 2011 at 1:41 pm #

What has sold me about Spellbinders was the customer service. My daughter was having trouble with her Wizard and we were at a convention where a Spellbinders represesntative took my daughter one-on-one and helped her with her problem. I will never forget that! We love their dies and their website is like looking at the Christmas Catalogue. Santa, we want them all. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  73. Louise Brown October 21, 2011 at 1:41 pm #

Thanks for the chance to win some.

  74. Jan Castle October 21, 2011 at 2:02 pm #

I have a 3″ notebook FULL of Spellbinders dies…so choosing a favorite would take forever…posibly Labels 4, or maybe the Abstract/Wonky (have both). I use the Nestabilities for layering on my card projects and don’t know how I could get along without them! Interesting – I do NOT have any Edgeability dies…YET! Thanks for the chance to win a set.

I’m working toward the Grand Caliber now. I saw it at a scrapbook convention, and of course, it’s a ‘MUST-HAVE’. It’s on my Christmas list!!!

I am always excited to see the new sets and always have some Spellbinders dies on my wish list. Right now, on top of my list is the new box die. I’d love to see them create sets for gift card holders and match boxes.
