Decor | Heidi Swapp Marquee Love Letter

I've been engaged in a massive makeover of my craft room in 2015, and that includes all of the room's decor. That means I've had an excuse to make a lot of fun projects to decorate my walls and shelves!

One of the things I wanted to add to my room was some personalization, like monograms to the decor. A Heidi Swapp Marquee Love letter was the perfect solution!

The first step of the project was that I used Martha Stewart Crafts Pearl Paint to paint the inside edge of the letter that would show. I extended the paint into the front and sides of the letter, so none of the white would show if my covering in those areas wasn't aligned properly.

Covering the flat, front surface of the letter (where the lights sit) was really easy thanks to the template that is included in the package. I used the template to trace onto a piece of glittered floral paper from the Heidi Swapp "Sugar Chic" paper pad, and cut it out with a combination of scissors and a craft knife.

The use of glitter paper adds extra sparkle when the lights are on, and the photo below really shows how the pearl paint glows from the letter's lights, too!

The side of my letter is covered in the glitter tape that is part of the Marquee Love collection. The tape is the perfect width for the sides of the letters. The tape was a bit more bling than I wanted for the decor in my room, however. I wanted more of an antique gold look, so I used white acrylic paint to distress the tape after applying it to the letter. I applied the paint with a baby white, dabbing it randomly over the tape so it wasn't consistent or even thoroughly covering.

Once that was done, the only thing left to do was pop in my lights and enjoy! The lights use two AAA batteries. I only turn them on occasionally, but even when they aren't on the letter adds a nice pop of pink to the bookshelf that I keep it on.
