CHA Mega Show 2016 | Seth Apter The Altered Page for Spellbinders
Reported by Maria del Pinto
Today, I'm bringing you a peek at the hot new Spellbinders mixed media product line from Seth Apter that was shown at the CHA Mega Show 2016 last month, as well as a look at some of his projects he had on display that were made using tools from his new line.

Seth Apter is well-known not only for his art, but also for his beautiful altered pieces. Some of you may be familiar with him from his frequent appearances in the pages of “Cloth, Paper, Scissors” magazine. His blog, The Altered Page, is the origin of the name for his product line.
This is Seth's first line of mixed media products and tools with Spellbinders. The release includes dies, stamps, embossing folders, and a book kit. Elements from the new line of products are designed to work together, with many of the stamps and dies complementing each other.
Some of the different dies in Seth's line are sized to be mixed and matched (a great excuse for me to purchase all three sets that I have my eye on). There is also a book kit that includes a 3-ring binder, tabbed pages, and a steel rule die, which allows the users to cut out their own pages.
As you can see, the book kit provides a wonderful base to express your own creativity. Seth also has a "Change a Page" die line that can be used to make some fun pages and covers to help create your notebook. If you are following my date book and journal series, you know I love field notebooks, so this goes to the top of my own must have list.
You can see more about the book kit at the Spellbinders website or on Seth Apter’s The Altered Page site. This new product line can be used to create a vast variety of mixed media projects. Seth’s display at the CHA 2016 Mega Show featured over 16 different projects that were made using various dies from his new mixed media line which you can see in the video.
I emailed Seth to get a little more information about this great line and here is what he told me:
I am hoping to bridge the divide between people that call themselves mixed media artists and people who call themselves crafters. I would love for traditional crafters to be more comfortable with stepping out of their comfort zone and using some abstract design in a mixed media format. And I would love some mixed media artists, who often are hesitant to use dies and embossing folders, to be more open to these kinds of products more typically associated with crafters.
The products are all designed to work together, with many of the stamps and dies complimenting each other. And many of the different dies in the different sets are sized to be mixed and matched.
The new Seth Apter The Altered Page Spellbinders products line will be available to order in February 2016 online and in stores near you. If you want to know more about Seth Apter and his artwork and grunge pieces, you can find him at his blog at: http://thealteredpage.blogspot.com
NOTE: Many thanks to Seth for his cooperation in providing photos and information for this post.
