CHA Summer 2013 | We R Memory Keepers Punch Boards

Reported by Yana Smakula

We R Memory Keepers has been always well known for their innovative tools. And so it should be no surprise that at the Summer CHA Create & Connect show in Las Vegas, the company released four new innovative tools to help crafters create even better projects!

Their new punch boards, the follow-ups to their popular envelope punch board, are designed to make four different types of gift packaging. They introduced a gift bag punch board, a gift box punch board, a pillow box punch board and a candy box punch board.

Each board can create packaging in several different sizes (all of the dimensions are conveniently listed on the board and are available in inches as well as centimeters).

These boxes will start shipping in October and will make for a great Christmas gift for any paper crafter this year!

Here are four videos showing you how to make each of the new packaging pieces:

CHA Summer 2013 | School Colors: Lion Brand, Clearsnap

If you are looking to create team color items, you have some new options now thanks to Lion Brand and Clearsnap’s product introductions at Create-n-Connect in Las Vegas.

Lion Brand

Fall means football season, and bundling up for games. With the new school color yarns from Lion Brand, you can make your own hats, mittens, scarves, and even sweaters to wear to root on your favorite college team! The yarns are the latest additions to Lion’s Hometown USA yarn line. The bulky weight yarns are 100% acrylic, and available in 12 color schemes.

These two color schemes are familiar to any Michigan resident!

Here’s how a few of them look sampled into swatches:

Clearsnap

If ink is more of what you need in your school colors, ColorBox has something for you! At Create-n-Connect, they released a selection of NCAA-licensed items.

First up is the stamps – two different versions for each school in the line, a tin set and a rollagraph version.

But of course you need inks to go with stamps, and there’s two different versions of those as well. There’s a dye inkpad (left, below) and a tattoo ink inkpad (right, below)  for temporary use on skin. Combine the tattoo pad with the stamp set and you can create festive game day face wear!

CHA Summer 2013 | Nestabilities Enhancing Elements by Spellbinders

Reported by Yana Smakula

At the all new CHA Summer 2013 show (now actually called Create and Connect) Spellbinders Paper Arts introduced 13 new mixed media items and 48 new exciting dies and folders among which is their latest innovation called “Nestabilities Enhancing Elements”.

At the moment the new line has only 4 die templates – circles, ovals, squares and rectangles – the names of which provide a suggestion the line is possibly to be expanded in the future.

The new Enhancing Elements are designed to work on top of the existing Nestabilities collection and is bound to introduce even greater possibilities for cardmakers and other paper crafters.

Dies from this line do not actually cut the shape. What they do is provide fantastic embossed, debossed and cut designs inside a shape that is cut out by the Nestability dies. The new dies are gold-colored, and like the Imperial Gold dies, take your die cuts to the 4th dimension providing you with embossed, debossed and (after adding some ink) a letterpressed look.

You can combine the new Enhancing Elements dies not only with the similar shapes, but with different ones as you can see in the photo below:

Here’s a look at some of the combinations I tried layering at the Spellbinders class:

To give you the idea of the opportunities these dies present, take a look at the photos below to see all the different die combinations we came up in the class. We made more than 220 different die cuts in just 15 minutes!
